Achronos: An Exhibition of Photography & Poetry
Time stops. Our habits lose their intention. No tools, the experience itself unfolds; drastically, as fate. Some traces –image, poem, voice– remain from this exploration. Achronos: an invitation to breathe the consequences of this subtraction.
This Exhibit runs at the lobby of Teatro IATI during its 2nd Annual Performing Arts Marathon, from July 9th to July 26th 2009. Ernesto Estrella Cózar (Poet) was born in Granada, Spain, in 1974 and has been based in New York since 2000. Since 2007 he has been teaching at Yale University as a specialist in Hispanic poetry. As a poet he has been included in anthologies such as Inmenso Estrecho (2007) and Cuadernos del abismo. (2008). His book Boca de prosas (Mouth of Proses) will soon appear in press. Along with composer Marcelo Toledo, he is currently developing a poetry and voice lab in Berlin, aimed at the performative dimension of the poem. Nyssos Vasilopoulos (Photograher) was born in Greece in 1976. He studied Journalism, Photography and History of European Civilization in Athens as well as Film Direction in Berlin at the KASKELINE FILMACADEMIE. For the last 6 years he has resided in Berlin where he shoots in black and white with the aim of publishing a photobook about the city. He is pursuing his postgraduate studies in Management & Administration of Cultural Stations, and is the lighting designer for the international dance team ADLIDANCE. His main purpose is to elevate the functions of the human being through light. Rosario Moore (Curator) is a NYC based artist currently serving as a guest curator for the poetry/photography project entitled Achronos. She has exhibited widely throughout the U.S., Latin America and Europe. Her practice has taken on various formats ranging from drawings, public sculpture to interventions in unsolicited venues and printed matter, resulting in a comprehensive analysis of cultural production. Her primary concerns are for an active and critical engagement of art and society. Her latest solo exhibit can be viewed at the Venetia Kapernekas Gallery in New York.
